THE PADI MASTER SCUBA DIVER PROGRAM is not a class in itself, but a series of courses designed to maximize your enjoyment of the underwater world. Byoffering you exposure to many different specialized areas of diving, you can gain training and confidence to expand your diving opportunities. Annapolis SCUBA Center promotes the Master SCUBA Diver Program; we encourage you to take your diving education seriously-and have fun while doing it!

The MASTER SCUBA DIVER PROGRAM offers you lots of flexibility. The courses you’ll take will be focused entirely on the areas of diving that interest you most. So, whether it’s wreck diving that excites you, or your love of marine creatures that draws you to the underwater world, you’re sure to find this program exciting and enlightening.

The first step in becoming a MASTER SCUBA DIVER is the Padi Advanced Open Water Course. This program introduces you to several specialized types of diving, and serves as a foundation for your MSD program. The specialty dives that you complete in your Advanced Course will give you “credit” towards completing many specialty courses. You’ll complete “core” dives in the areas of night, deep, and navigation, as well as two additional specialty dives.
Becoming a Padi Rescue Diver is the next step along the way. The Open Water and Advanced Open Water Course focus on your personal diving skills, this course gives you an introduction to self-rescue, as well as how to assist another diver if they need help. Most importantly you’ll learn how to prevent problems from occuring, both on the surface and underwater. You’ll also learn problem management, and how to recognize problematic situations when they occur. You’ll familiarize yourself with many different types of equipment, so that you can quickly respond to another diver when needed. The Rescue Diver Course is a big step in the direction of becoming a more independent diver.

To attain the Master SCUBA Diver Rating, you’ll also complete five specialty courses. Many of these courses can be taken immediately following the Open Water Program, so there is no need to follow a specific sequence. Specialty programs are the way to sharpen your general diving skills, and become proficient in specialized areas of diving. Knowledge development (academics) are essentially self-study, through use of PADI videos and materials, so you’ll spend the majority of your time diving. Knowledge review sessions can even be done at the dive site! For more information, check-out Specialty Courses.
